The most complete carbon emissions database available The tool comes pre-loaded with the Carbonostics Database, containing over 1500 carbon emission factors for food ingredients and processes as well as comprehensive data on packaging, transport, storage, and consumer use. Carbonostics users have the option to input primary data for any part of the product lifecycle. It is advised to input previously collected primary data if it is readily available. Perhaps your plastics supplier has run an analysis, or your sugar supplier participated in a government study, for example. There is no need to spend time collecting primary data to run a valid Carbonostics analysis. Secondary data is typically sufficient to pinpoint hotspots. Committed to data transparency The carbon emissions data in Carbonostics is an aggregation of the best available private and public data. In the database, each emission factor is linked to the source that includes a description its methodology. ESU-Services - Carbonostics has partnered with the respected Swiss consultancy and data provider ESU. A significant portion of the food and agricultural data in the Carbonostics Database is sourced from ESU. Updating your analysis with new data Each time the Carbonostics database is updated and expanded to include new categories, users receive an alert. If you have run an analysis using data that is updated, users may choose to create a new scenario using the new data to determine if and how it affects your lifecycle results.
